EPIC names Adam Okun president of national employee benefits practice
Okun is tasked with folding its PSG pharmacy consulting unit into EPIC's employee benefits platform as prescription drug costs are projected to rise 11.5% in 2027.
EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants promoted Adam Okun to president of its national employee benefits practice, positioning pharmacy consulting at the center of the firm’s strategy going into what it expects to be one of the costliest benefits renewal cycles in years, according to Insurance Business.
Okun, a 20-year employee benefits veteran, succeeds Craig Hasday, who moves to vice chairman of employee benefits and reports to Phil Moyles, co-president of EPIC. Okun’s mandate includes integrating Pharmaceutical Strategies Group, an EPIC pharmacy consulting subsidiary, directly into the firm’s employee benefits platform, which has historically served commercial payers and large multinational organizations.
EPIC said the appointment reflects an effort to extend PSG’s expertise beyond large national accounts to employers of all sizes, from small group clients through to larger customers. The company cited data projecting prescription drug costs will increase 11.5% in 2027, and said plans using GLP-1 medications for obesity management saw pharmacy cost trend rates of 18.3% in 2025, based on Segal Health Plan Cost Trend Survey figures and Segal plan experience data.
Insurance Business also highlighted shifting pharmacy benefit purchasing behavior, with the share of employer-sponsored plans using one of the three largest pharmacy benefit managers falling nine points in a year, from 63.4% in 2025 to 54.3% in 2026, citing contract transparency gaps and fiduciary concerns among smaller employers. Okun will also align EPIC’s four client segments under a more integrated national structure to give clients access to specialist resources and local market knowledge through a single engagement point.
