GM National Insurance posts wider net underwriting losses in Q2 2026
For the first half of 2026, the insurer reported $63.8 million in written premiums, up from $21.8 million a year earlier, while underwriting losses widened to $51.1 million.
GM National Insurance Company, the licensed carrier within General Motors, published its Q2 2026 results, showing written premiums of $63.8 million for the first half of the year, up from $21.8 million a year earlier, according to Coverager.
The insurer reported a net underwriting loss of $51.1 million for the first half of 2026, larger than the $33.4 million net underwriting loss in the first half of 2025.
Coverager reported that the carrier generated premiums in 21 states, with Texas leading at $22.8 million, followed by Michigan at $9.0 million, Georgia at $7.1 million, Illinois at $4.7 million, and Ohio at $2.8 million.
The company also disclosed that its net underwriting loss for the first half was $80.5 million, up from a $58.0 million loss in 2024, and that Texas remained its largest market with over 8,400 policyholders and $12.3 million in written premium.
