Illuvium cuts wages to extend studio runway past August 2027

The token ILV was up 6.1% on the day to $3.35, while DefiLlama estimates Illuvium’s treasury at $2.78 million.

Illuvium agreed to reduce wages again to preserve its operating runway, with co-founder Kieran Warwick saying the studio now has more than 12 months of runway, enough to take it past August 2027. The Defiant said Warwick attributed the focus to cost reductions over the past six months and added that the team is almost entirely working on Overworld, its MMO.

The coverage placed Illuvium’s staffing and finances in context with crypto gaming closures in the sector. It cited Proof of Play’s Aug. 5 decision to cease operations and open source Pirate Nation code and art under CC0.

Illuvium’s on chain and market figures were also described. DefiLlama put Illuvium’s treasury at $2.78 million versus $60 million raised, and estimated $2.21 million of ILV staked in its pools, or 7.98% of market capitalization, while DefiLlama data showed Illuvium’s protocol generated $9,781 in fees and revenue over the past 30 days.

The brief added that ILV trades at $3.35, up 6.1% on the day and 17.9% over the week, with a market cap of $27.74 million, and noted the token’s all time low at $2.69 on July 29. The Defiant also said Warwick insisted his confidence is not tied to the price of ETH and did not provide the size of the wage cut, remaining staff count, or the studio’s cash position.
