Tether’s USDT holds top spot as USDC ramps up transactions
USDC transactions rose 209% year over year in the first half, with transaction volume up 101%, while NOWPayments said USDT activity declined but stayed the leader.
Tether’s USDT remains the dominant stablecoin by business transaction volume, even as competition from other issuers intensifies in crypto payments, according to data cited by NOWPayments and summarized by Yahoo Finance.
The firm said USDC, issued by Circle Internet Group, is gaining momentum, with USDC transactions increasing 209% year over year in the first half and transaction volume rising 101%. Over the same period, USDT transaction activity declined, but it continues to lead the market.
NOWPayments said businesses are increasingly using both USDT and USDC in day-to-day operations, including payroll and treasury transfers, framing stablecoins as more than just an optional payment method.
Yahoo Finance also noted that Circle Internet Group shares have fallen 43% over the past 12 months, trading at $76.53 per share.
