Gold rebounds nearly 16% off June lows on bond-yield shock
COMEX gold is about 16.0% above its June 2026 low, as a sell-off in US long-term Treasuries pushed 30-year yields to 5.33% recently.
Gold prices rebounded after a sharp sell-off in US long-term bonds dented hopes for a US Fed rate hike amid renewed inflation concerns, LiveMint Markets reports.
In global markets, COMEX gold is nearly 16.0% above its June 2026 low of $3,942 per ounce, while in India the MCX gold rate is around ₹1,62,500 per 10 gm, about 17.0% higher than June lows near ₹1,40,000 per 10 gm.
The report links the move to a mix of demand and rate dynamics, citing persistent central bank accumulation for underlying support and a return of investment flows into gold ETFs after earlier outflows.
LiveMint Markets also highlights the US Treasury trigger, where 30-year Treasury yields have risen to multi-year highs of 5.33%, tightening financial conditions and raising borrowing costs across the economy, ahead of the next US Fed meeting.
