Illuvium extends runway after 6 months of cost cuts

CEO Kieran Warwick said the studio’s workforce is now almost entirely focused on an MMO, with more than 12 months of runway restored despite no disclosure of its current cash balance or monthly burn.

Illuvium co-founder and CEO Kieran Warwick said the web3 gaming studio’s six months of cost reductions, along with a further wage cut, restored more than 12 months of operating runway, according to CryptoSlate. Warwick made the comment on Aug. 21, but did not disclose the studio’s current cash balance or its latest monthly burn rate.

The company has been narrowing its efforts to its MMO push. Warwick said the remaining workforce is now almost entirely focused on the MMO, and that most team members have been at Illuvium for more than three years.

CryptoSlate noted that Illuvium last published a burn figure in December 2024, when it reported costs of about $900,000 after administrators stopped taking salaries and the studio cut overall wages by another $85,000. At that time, Illuvium expected to seek additional capital around March 2025, but Warwick did not clarify whether new financing contributed to the latest runway estimate.

CryptoSlate also reported that governance disclosures do not include a current financial breakdown, and that July council minutes placed operational cost and staff restructuring items, along with treasury and revenue distribution, under nondisclosure agreements. In terms of token performance, ILV was down 67.55% over the year through Aug. 21, while it was up 12.65% over the past 24 hours and ranked #572 by market capitalization.
