S&P 500 ends week down 1.4%, snapping three-week gain streak
The index is 1.6% below its Aug. 13, 2026 record close, and the S&P 500 Equal Weight is up 15.5% year to date.
The S&P 500 ended the week down 1.4%, snapping a three-week winning streak, according to ETF Trends. The benchmark is now 1.6% below its record close reached on Aug. 13, 2026.
For the year to date, the S&P 500 is up 12.1%, while the S&P 500 Equal Weight Index is up 15.5%. The report notes the S&P 500 is market-cap weighted and spans about 500 of the largest U.S. stocks across 11 sectors.
The piece also highlights recent volatility and trend measures. It says the index has been above its 50-day moving average since July 31, 2026, and above its 200-day moving average since April 8, 2026, with the 50-day moving average above the 200-day average since July 1, 2025.
ETF Trends lists several S&P 500-linked ETFs, including iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), and Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO). It also cites that on April 9, 2025, the index saw its largest intraday price volatility of 10.77% since Dec. 24, 2018, when volatility was 19.10%.
