Bitcoin jumps to three-month high as Senate CLARITY vote nears
Bitcoin was last at $76,977, up 22.6% on the week, while the Senate’s cloture on moving to H.R. 3633 is set to ripen Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Bitcoin surged to its highest level in three months on Friday, extending a three-day rally that lifted every major token and pushed the market out of a seven-week range, according to The Defiant. The move followed a White House meeting on Wednesday where President Donald Trump pressed crypto executives and urged Congress to pass the CLARITY Act, which would shape US digital-asset market structure.
The legislative timetable became a direct catalyst for traders. The Senate has scheduled cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 3633 to ripen Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 2:15 p.m., and the bill needs 60 votes to advance. The Defiant also cited trading activity that had earlier pushed the odds of passage into 2027 after Majority Leader John Thune skipped an earlier cloture filing.
Price action broadened across the sector. Bitcoin last changed hands at $76,977, up 6.4% on the day and 22.6% over seven days, after trading between $72,500 and $79,320, based on CoinGecko data. Ether was at $2,420, up 4.2% on the day and 28.8% on the week, while XRP added 11.3% to $1.37 and Solana rose 4.4% to $91.02.
The Defiant said the wider crypto market value reached $2.6 trillion, up 2.2% over 24 hours, on $157.9 billion of volume, with bitcoin dominance at 59.2%. It also noted the Crypto Fear and Greed Index read 72, or greed, on Friday, compared with 29 on Aug. 14, as the index moved out of fear on Thursday.
