Trump reverses beef tariff stance, easing pressure on USD

The administration plans up to 300,000 metric tons of additional ground beef imports over 90 days, aiming to cut prices by about 25%.

Forexlive reported that the U.S. dollar was mostly lower in the North American session as investors digested President Donald Trump’s apparent reversal on imported beef tariffs.

The outlet said Trump announced the U.S. would allow as much as 300,000 metric tons of additional ground beef imports over the next 90 days without triggering a 26.4% out-of-quota tariff, adding that the imported beef is expected to help bring prices down by about 25%.

Forexlive also connected the tariff shift to consumer costs, noting that beef prices have risen faster than overall food inflation, and it highlighted that drought, higher feed and energy costs, and labor constraints have reduced domestic beef supply.

Beyond the tariff story, the wrap noted Gold surging to break away from its 200-day moving average, while European stocks rebounded on Friday, though weekly losses remained a theme.
