U.S.-Canada trade talks fail, triggering new 50% tariffs
The new tariffs were set to take effect after the U.S. and Canada were unable to reach an agreement.
CNBC Markets reports that U.S.-Canada trade talks collapsed, leading to the start of new tariff measures on some Canadian exports.
The report says the tariffs include a 50% rate under the Trump administration and began after the two countries failed to reach a deal on Friday.
The tariff changes apply to specific Canadian export categories covered by the new measures, which moved into effect following the breakdown in negotiations.
