Zillow study says empty lots on sale could cut housing shortage 6%
Building one home on each Zillow-listed empty lot could reduce the national housing deficit to 4.44 million homes, Zillow Research estimates.
Zillow Research says more than 300,000 empty lots listed for sale on Zillow could help close part of the country’s housing shortage.
In its analysis, the firm estimates that building one home on each of those lots would reduce the national housing deficit to 4.44 million homes.
That would represent about a 6% reduction in the overall shortage, according to Zillow Research.
