eCash test chain runs beside Bitcoin ahead of Oct. 31 permanent fork
The project moved permanent ECX allocation to about Bitcoin block 973,728 on Oct. 31, with an Aug. 23 Alpha stage and a Beta stage planned near block 967,680.
CryptoSlate reports an eCash fork activity produced Alpha-chain blocks alongside Bitcoin beginning at height 963,648 on Aug. 23, but the permanent fork did not occur then. The project’s revised roadmap now schedules the 1:1 allocation of permanent ECX for a Mainnet launch around Bitcoin block 973,728 on Oct. 31, turning the Aug. 23 event into a rehearsal.
According to CryptoSlate, Bitcoin ownership was not changed by the Alpha phase, and “practice pECX” is not permanent ECX. The report says mempool.space data and the eCash Alpha explorer both show the Alpha chain advancing through at least 963,650 while Bitcoin remains on its own separate record.
CryptoSlate also describes a three-stage timeline: Alpha at roughly 963,648 on Aug. 23, Beta near 967,680 on Sept. 20, and permanent Mainnet near 973,728 on Oct. 31. The project says practice units can be burned for real ECX at Mainnet, and founder Paul Sztorc said 1,000 pECX could be redeemed for 10 ECX.
The integration guidance cited by CryptoSlate is marked pre-launch and still treats 963,648 as the production fork point while deferring final technical details like the fork hash, software branch or tag, and replay scheme publication. The report adds that public exchange notices did not show a universal freeze of Bitcoin services, with GMO Coin saying it would not handle pECX or ECX during Alpha and Beta, while other exchanges published different continuity plans.
