Equinor signs 15-year gas supply deal with Germany's Uniper
The contract calls for deliveries starting January 1, 2027, covering more than 30 terawatt-hours annually through 2041.
Equinor has signed a 15-year natural gas sales agreement with Germany's Uniper, locking in more than 30 terawatt-hours of annual supplies to Germany through 2041, according to Yahoo Finance.
The deal covers roughly 2.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, with deliveries scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027 and run through December 31, 2041. The gas will be delivered at Trading Hub Europe, Germany's gas market area, and pricing is set to reflect prevailing market terms, while other commercial details remain confidential.
Equinor said the agreement extends its longstanding relationship with Uniper and underscores Norway's role as a key source of natural gas for Germany. The contract begins in the year marking the 50th anniversary of Norwegian gas exports to Germany.
The companies also separately signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore a potential sale of sustainability-related attributes tied to the gas supplied under the agreement, which could include independently verified information about origin and greenhouse gas intensity of Equinor's production.
