Hedge fund redemption notices tick up in August but stay low
Redemption notices came in at 1.64% of hedge fund assets on SS&C GlobeOp’s platform, 73 basis points below the indicator’s five-year average of 2.37%.
Investors submitted redemption notices equivalent to 1.64% of assets managed by hedge funds on SS&C GlobeOp’s administration platform in August, up from 1.35% in July, according to Hedgeweek.
SS&C Technologies’ Forward Redemption Indicator placed the August reading 73 basis points below its five-year average of 2.37%, a sign that investors remain relatively committed to hedge fund allocations even amid market uncertainty.
SS&C Technologies chairman and CEO Bill Stone said hedge funds continue to offer diversification and downside protection as investors weigh factors including energy security concerns from ongoing conflicts, the unwinding of tariffs, fiscal challenges, and changes in rate policy.
The indicator is published on the 15th business day of each month and measures redemption notices received, not realised outflows, with notices typically submitted 30 to 90 days before any redemption date.
