Reverse-only loan originator George Vrban drives $69M in annual volume
In the year ending July 13, Vrban originated 106 reverse mortgages totaling $69 million, citing higher conversion rates and improved borrower experience from specialization.
HousingWire interviewed Movement Mortgage reverse originator George Vrban about why he believes a reverse-only model can outperform more generalist approaches in Home Equity Conversion Mortgage lending.
Vrban said he has focused exclusively on reverse mortgages for 20 years, and that reverse origination requires significant time and effort, particularly around borrower education and presenting retirement strategies.
He also pointed to performance data from InGenius, saying he originated 106 reverse mortgages for $69 million in volume during the year ending July 13.
Vrban attributed improved conversion rates and a stronger customer experience to Movement’s structure, where reverse mortgages are handled by a small group of retirement-focused mortgage professionals rather than being blended across forward and reverse lending.
