Shein targets $1.8 billion in Hong Kong IPO, debut set for Sept. 1

The company plans to sell 280 million shares at HK$47.6 to HK$49.5 each, valuing it at about $25.7 billion to $26.8 billion at listing.

Fast fashion retailer Shein Global Holdings is in the final stretch of its IPO process, aiming to raise as much as $1.8 billion in Hong Kong and begin trading on Sept. 1, according to a Bloomberg report cited by LiveMint Markets.

The filing indicates Shein will offer 280 million shares at HK$47.6 to HK$49.5 each, which would imply a market capitalization of about $25.7 billion to $26.8 billion. LiveMint Markets also reports that investors placed enough orders to cover the shares available in the IPO.

The proposed valuation of about $27 billion would place Shein among the larger global fashion and apparel companies, though it is far below the nearly $100 billion valuation it commanded in 2022. LiveMint Markets notes that regulatory scrutiny previously derailed Shein’s plans to list in the US and then London, and that stricter tariffs have weighed on growth.

LiveMint Markets adds that Shein’s IPO documents show it swung to a $99 million loss in the first quarter of 2026, down from a $395 million profit a year earlier, alongside declining revenue. It says the company plans to use proceeds to invest in technology such as inventory management systems, step up marketing, and expand brand awareness.
