Stand With Crypto backs 32 House incumbents for midterm re-election
The pro-crypto advocacy group, backed by Coinbase, says it targets crypto voters as lawmakers from both parties converge on the issue ahead of November.
CoinDesk reports that Stand With Crypto, a U.S. pro-crypto political advocacy group, has released the names of 32 House incumbents it is backing in this year’s midterm elections. The group positions its effort as steering digital-asset voters toward the re-election of lawmakers it grades as crypto-friendly.
Stand With Crypto, originally supported by Coinbase and now claiming more than 3 million online U.S. members, is using member emails to build a voting bloc, according to CoinDesk. The list includes bipartisan lawmakers tied to recent congressional crypto pushes, including House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn GT Thompson, and Bryan Steil, who leads the digital assets subcommittee within the House Financial Services Committee.
CoinDesk also reports that the group is open to the possibility that Democrats could win control of the House after the November elections, which could shift committee leadership. In that scenario, it says the group’s endorsements could extend to Democrats well placed for future committee chairs, including Jim Costa.
Stand With Crypto said the midterms represent a key inflection point for crypto policy in Washington, and it is backing lawmakers across committees likely to see crypto action, including House Ways and Means, House Financial Services, and agriculture panels, CoinDesk reports. The group also referenced legislative efforts such as the PARITY Act introduced by Steven Horsford and other lawmakers it says have directly engaged on crypto bills.
