Zelensky details dispute with dismissed defense minister Fedorov
Zelensky also said Ukraine’s Patriot air defense missile shortage is worsening as Western ally deliveries decline over the past three years.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the actions taken by dismissed Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, including his involvement in mass protests and calls for an election, were misguided, as Zelensky publicly detailed their dispute for the first time, according to SCMP Economy. Zelensky said he believes problematic decisions over defense spending and inaccurate information from the Defence Ministry contributed to an awkward encounter with US President Donald Trump over the use of Starlink in Russia.
He also disclosed figures indicating Ukraine’s growing shortage of Patriot air defense missiles used to counter Russian ballistic attacks, saying deliveries from Western allies have declined in the past three years even as Russian missile strikes have intensified.
On the battlefield, Zelensky said Ukrainian forces have almost completely recaptured the Dnipropetrovsk region, leaving only about 10 square kilometers under Russian control, and his remarks were made during a two hour meeting with reporters before a transcript was released publicly the next day.
