Atlantic Avenue stays atop HECM broker rankings as endorsements flatten

Atlantic Avenue endorsed 75 HECM loans in May, down from 110 in April, while the 12-month rolling average held at 978.

May 2026 HECM broker and third-party originator rankings were largely unchanged from April, with endorsement activity relatively flat, HousingWire reports. Atlantic Avenue Mortgage remained the No. 1 endorser, but its May endorsements fell to 75 from 110 in April, even as its 12-month rolling average stayed at 978 loans.

loanDepot ranked second with 48 endorsements in May, above its 12-month average of 39. Caliver Beach Mortgage (22), C2 Financial Corp. (19) and West Capital Lending (17) rounded out the top five, according to data compiled by Reverse Market Insight and published by HECMWorld.com.

The rankings reflect slower HECM activity amid higher interest rates and upfront mortgage insurance premiums that industry leaders are seeking to relax, HousingWire adds. The outlet also notes that demand for home equity solutions among senior homeowners remains high, with more borrowers shifting toward proprietary reverse mortgages, which saw a 245% volume spike from 2023 to 2025.

HousingWire cites Movement Mortgage and REVERSE plus writer Dan Hultquist, who argued that compared with products that require monthly payments, can freeze credit lines, or expose retirees to unnecessary risk, the HECM can provide protections tailored to retirement cash-flow needs. It also highlights that Longbridge last week launched its Reverse Analytics Market Platform (RAMP), a free tool for approved broker partners offering HECM production data down to the ZIP code level.
