Coinbase launches tokenized stock products on Base for select users
On day one, Coinbase minted about $4.5 million of four tokenized stocks and added roughly $3 million in DEX liquidity on Base.
Coinbase has launched tokenized stock offerings on its Base network, according to coverage by The Defiant and Decrypt. The products are designed so each token represents a direct claim on an underlying share, including associated rights, rather than functioning as derivatives tied to stock prices.
The initial rollout includes four tokenized stocks covering Nvidia, Apple, Meta and Alphabet, with availability limited to non-US users, The Defiant reported. The outlet said about $4.5 million was minted on day one.
The Defiant also reported that about $3 million of decentralized exchange liquidity was deployed for the new tokens. It added that Chainlink price feeds run 24/5 while the tokens trade 24/7, reflecting a continuous market structure on the chain.
Decrypt further characterized the offerings as tokenized stocks that convey direct ownership exposure through a claim on a share, including rights, rather than creating synthetic exposure through instruments that merely track stock moves.
