Under the draft, Ethereum would delete the sync committee’s reward weight, reducing annual consensus issuance by roughly 33,800 ETH. The article says the sync committee serves as a 512-validator sample that lets light clients track the beacon chain without processing the full validator set.
The draft entered the official EIPs repository at 02:04 UTC on Aug. 24, but it remains in Draft status, with no activation epoch and no commitment to an Ethereum roadmap timeline. CryptoSlate adds that it also leaves lightweight-client migration interfaces, a proving service replacement, and prover economic support undefined.
