Indian stock market to trade normally on Eid Milad-un-Nabi

While BSE and NSE remain open for regular sessions on August 26, trade settlement is deferred to August 27, and subsequent trading is expected to continue through September except for weekends.

Indian exchanges will hold regular trading on Wednesday, August 26, despite the Eid Milad-un-Nabi holiday, which is observed as a public holiday in parts of the country. According to LiveMint Markets, Eid Milad-un-Nabi is not included in the 2026 trading holiday calendar for the equity and derivatives segments on BSE and NSE, so investors should expect normal market timings.

LiveMint Markets also said the day will function as a settlement holiday, meaning exchanges will stay open for trading but the settlement of trades will be deferred to Thursday, August 27. Trading is also expected to continue as normal on August 28, 2026, for Raksha Bandhan.

The report further noted that there are no scheduled trading holidays in September 2026 for the NSE and BSE, beyond regular weekend breaks. The next scheduled exchange trading holiday is Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14, followed later by Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dussehra on October 20, Diwali-Balipratipada on November 10, Prakash Gurpurb on November 24, and Christmas on December 25.

For commodity markets, LiveMint Markets said trading on the MCX in both agricultural and non-agricultural contracts will continue normally on August 26, with morning and evening sessions open. It added that MCX will be closed for Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14 and will remain closed for both sessions on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, while other late-year festivals will result in first-session closures with evening trading still open.
