Small memecoins surge as Cash Cat jumps 51% in 24 hours
Cash Cat, a Robinhood Chain token, is up 113% over the past week, and its 30-day gain of about 345% has pushed market value to roughly $215 million.
CoinDesk reports that a broader crypto rally has spilled into smaller dog and cat-themed memecoins, with Cash Cat leading the move. The token surged 51% in 24 hours to about $0.218, and it has gained 113% over the past week.
The outlet notes that Cash Cat’s run also includes a roughly 345% rise over the past 30 days, taking its market value to around $215 million. CoinDesk also points to unusually heavy activity, with about $80 million of Cash Cat trading over the past 24 hours versus that market value.
CoinDesk adds that other cat tokens have posted sharp gains, including Thinking Cat up 131% over seven days, Purr up 93%, Popcat up 54%, and MEW up 49%. On the dog side, Dog (Bitcoin) nearly doubled over the past week, while dogwifhat is up 64%, Bonk 47%, and Floki 40%.
The outlet says the speculative appetite behind the memecoin rally is reflected in sentiment metrics, with the Crypto Fear & Greed Index rising to about 75 from roughly 30 a week earlier. CoinDesk also highlights that memecoins, especially smaller ones, can swing sharply because thinner liquidity amplifies both rallies and potential selloffs.
