US sanctions target Iran crypto sector operators

The campaign, dubbed an “Economic D-Day,” lists crypto alongside technology, gold, aviation and shipping as covered sectors.

The US has moved to expand sanctions affecting the Iran crypto sector, according to Decrypt.

In a broader effort described as an “Economic D-Day,” the US Treasury identified digital assets as one of five sectors included in the campaign.

The other targeted sectors cited in the announcement are technology, gold, aviation and shipping, placing crypto in the same sanctions focus as traditional finance and logistics sectors, Decrypt reports.
