Fed preferred inflation gauge shows core PCE rose 3.3% in July
Economists surveyed by Dow Jones expected core PCE to increase 0.1% month over month in July.
CNBC Markets reports the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation measure, the core Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, showed core prices rose 3.3% year over year in July.
The outlet also cited expectations from economists surveyed by Dow Jones, who projected a 0.1% month over month increase in core PCE for July.
According to the same survey, economists expected the 12-month core PCE rate to come in at 3.6%.
