Fire at Amur petrochemical complex kills three, injures dozens
The blaze occurred in an auxiliary technical area, and the company said the complex’s main installations were not damaged.
A fire at a petrochemical site in Russia’s far eastern Amur region killed three people, including two Chinese citizens, according to a company statement cited by SCMP Economy and the news wire Agence France-Presse.
Amur GKhK said 24 people were taken to hospital with more or less serious injuries, while another 122 people suffered light injuries that did not require hospitalization.
Emergency services continued search and rescue operations and worked to extinguish the main fire, with controlled burning of residual industrial gas also under way.
The company said the main installations of the complex were not damaged, noting the fire broke out in an auxiliary technical area of the facility.
