Green Acres Milling to start oat mill operations in September
The new Minnesota facility is expected to produce 39,420 tonnes of finished oat products per year once running.
Green Acres Milling, a food-grade oat milling plant in Albert Lea, Minnesota, is set to begin operations in September.
The company says it has secured supplies by convincing 130 farmers to become company shareholders and deliver oats to the mill.
Construction of the roughly 140-foot-tall, 130,000-square-foot facility was overseen by Todd & Sargent, and the plant includes a TerraKE automation system from Knobelsdorf to support traceability through the milling process.
Once in operation, the oat mill is expected to have production capacity of 39,420 tonnes of finished oat products per year, and Bühler of Uzwil, Switzerland, installed much of the milling equipment, according to World Grain.
