Hyperliquid HYPE jumps to record ahead of $1.2B token unlock
A Aug. 29 unlock will release 14.18 million HYPE, about 1.4% of total supply, with roughly half of the tokens going to early investors and insiders.
Hyperliquid’s HYPE token set a new all-time high of $83.27 over the weekend, extending its 2026 rally just days before a planned $1.2 billion token unlock.
After hitting the record on Sunday, the token pulled back toward $77.50, leaving its market capitalization near $19.5 billion, according to Yahoo Finance.
The Aug. 29 unlock will release 14.18 million HYPE, representing about 1.4% of total supply and 2.7% of the token’s market value. Nearly half of the unlocked tokens are slated for insiders, with early investors receiving 46.6%, the community getting 46.3%, and the Hyper Foundation receiving 7%, which Yahoo Finance values the insider allocation at roughly $560 million at current prices.
Yahoo Finance also noted that Hyperliquid has followed a monthly unlock schedule since its November 2024 launch, with mixed price reactions in prior events. The next supply increase lands as the exchange continues expanding through Hyperliquid infrastructure, while President Donald Trump said the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is working to bring Hyperliquid into the U.S. “in a fully compliant and legal fashion,” and an additional unlock of a similar size is scheduled for Sept. 29.
