India textile sector posts 34% Q1FY27 EBITDA growth as exports rebound

Aggregate Q1FY27 Ebitda rose to ₹3,270 crore while revenue increased to ₹27,000 crore, helped by better order visibility and global demand.

India’s export-reliant textile sector started fiscal year 2027 stronger, with aggregate Q1FY27 Ebitda from 21 covered companies rising 34% year-on-year to ₹3,270 crore, while revenue grew 18% to ₹27,000 crore, according to LiveMint Markets.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services coverage cited improving global demand, export opportunities, free trade agreements and government incentives as drivers, alongside stronger apparel performance, with apparel revenues growing more than 20% year-on-year supported by better order visibility.

In Q1, Vardhman Textiles, Welspun Living and Arvind recorded Ebitda growth of 36% to 45% and revenue growth of 13% to 25%, with management commentary pointing to sustained momentum through the rest of FY27 based on stronger orders inflow.

The outlook comes even as logistics and working capital were pressured by disruptions tied to the West Asia conflict, which raised logistics costs due to shipping delays, and Motilal Oswal flagged key monitors including cotton prices, export incentives, freight and fuel costs, the cotton import-duty deadline, and incremental order flows from the US and Europe.
