Revolut starts rolling out euro stablecoin EURR to select customers
EURR is redeemable at 1 euro and issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, with smart-contract support on both Ethereum and Polygon.
Revolut is beginning a phased launch of its euro-backed stablecoin, EURR, integrating it into its retail app for a select group of customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal, according to CoinDesk. The token is issued by Bridge, a firm owned by Stripe, and is described as MiCA-compliant. Bridge authorizes EURR as electronic money and makes it redeemable at face value against Bridge Building at 1 euro per token, with the stablecoin deployed on Ethereum and Polygon. Revolut said it has more than 80 million retail customers and over 16 million crypto users, positioning EURR for broader distribution beyond crypto-native platforms. CoinDesk also notes the wider stablecoin market ecosystem is worth over $300 billion, while euro-pegged stablecoins represent less than $800 million of that total based on DeFiLlama data. For reserves, Bridge safeguards funds in segregated accounts at regulated banks or may invest in eligible, highly liquid euro-denominated instruments. CoinDesk reported that at the time of publication Bridge’s reserve page showed 374 EURR in circulation and 374 euros of reserve assets held as cash deposits.
