Millennium hires ex-Goldman energy trader for Jersey commodities role
The appointment comes as Millennium weighs expanding its Jersey presence for portfolio managers who prefer alternatives to relocating to the UAE amid geopolitical tensions, Hedgeweek said.
Millennium Management has hired Emmanuel Clair, a former Goldman Sachs energy trading executive, as a senior commodities portfolio manager in Jersey, as reported by Hedgeweek with details from eFinancial Careers. Clair joins after running his own commodities investment business, Dolment Advisors, for the past two years. His background includes roughly a decade at Goldman Sachs, where he led London energy trading and served as global head of crude oil derivatives trading, and an earlier eight-year stint at EDF heading power options and structured products trading.
Hedgeweek reported that Clair took the role in a jurisdiction that has increasingly attracted hedge fund professionals as an alternative to traditional financial centers. Millennium’s Jersey operation is described as relatively small, but the firm has shown interest in building it out as a base for investment staff.
The hiring also follows earlier reporting that Millennium was considering expanding its existing Jersey operation as an alternative location for portfolio managers reluctant to relocate to the UAE amid geopolitical tensions.
