StarkWare runs experimental quantum-resistant Bitcoin spending on mainnet

StarkWare said it has executed an experimental, quantum-resistant Bitcoin transaction on the mainnet without requiring a fork, showing a path to Bitcoin spending that aims to be resilient to future quantum computing threats.
In details shared by the company via Cointelegraph, StarkWare said the approach worked without changing the protocol during the test, but it involved limitations including a cost of up to $200 and the need for direct submission to miners.
The Block also noted that StarkWare emphasized the wider need for a protocol-level upgrade, saying Bitcoin still is not fully safe from quantum computing threats absent broader changes.
