Bitcoin’s Coinbase premium flips positive for first time since May
The Coinbase Premium indicator turned positive on Friday as BTC rebounded from about $63,000 to above $80,000, alongside renewed inflows into U.S.-listed spot bitcoin ETFs.
Bitcoin has started trading at a premium on Coinbase versus Binance again, with a widely tracked Coinbase Premium indicator turning positive for the first time since May, according to Coinglass data cited by CoinDesk.
CoinDesk reports the indicator, which measures the gap between bitcoin prices on the two exchanges, flipped positive on Friday, reflecting comparatively stronger demand on the Nasdaq-listed U.S. venue.
The shift comes after BTC’s steep rise from roughly $63,000 to over $80,000, and it also coincides with renewed uptake in U.S.-listed spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds that use Coinbase as a custodian.
CoinDesk notes that these ETFs, led by BlackRock’s IBIT, have pulled in $3.51 billion in investor funds, the highest tally since October 2025, and that a sustained premium would be needed to help BTC extend its advance toward resistance near the 50-week simple moving average around $81,000.
