Crypto industry meets at Jackson Hole as Kansas City Fed symposium opens

The overlap comes as the Fed added crypto and stablecoins to its agenda themes alongside instant payments, with a full program due Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. EDT.

Crypto executives, investors, and lawmakers gathered in Jackson Hole from Aug. 17 to Aug. 20 for the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium, drawing about 500 guests at the Four Seasons to discuss digital assets, CryptoSlate reported.

On Aug. 27, roughly 120 central bankers, economists, and officials are set to meet about 35 miles away at Jackson Lake Lodge for the Kansas City Fed’s annual economic symposium, themed “Financial Innovation: Implications for Payments and Policy,” according to CryptoSlate.

CryptoSlate said SALT and Kraken will participate in one ballroom focused on token businesses, while the Federal Reserve’s retreat will put payment technology at the center of its policy discussion.

The Kansas City Fed’s Aug. 25 announcement placed crypto and stablecoins alongside instant payments and other digital payment systems, and CryptoSlate noted the agenda details will not be fully published until Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. EDT, with no speaker remarks delivered yet as the story was written, though Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s keynote is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. EDT.
