Bitcoin’s oldest dormant wallets start moving at an unusual pace
Galaxy Research says six ancient wallets shifted $40 million over a 10-day span in 2026.
Decrypt reports that Galaxy Research is seeing bitcoin activity from the network’s oldest wallets pick up in 2026, with coins that have been untouched for 10-plus years moving more quickly than usual.
According to the research cited by Decrypt, the pace is rare for dormant holdings, and the activity this month has included six ancient wallets moving funds during a 10-day stretch.
Decrypt adds that the six wallets collectively shifted $40 million within that period, highlighting a spike in otherwise inactive bitcoin addresses.
