Kuwait signs military pact with Pakistan as Iran threat persists

Gulf states are adjusting their security strategies as the Iran-US conflict enters its sixth month, with warnings that shifts toward self-reliant defense networks could challenge China’s approach in the region, based on how China’s role is framed as “involvement without commitment,” according to SCMP Economy.
SCMP Economy reports that the Iranian army warned on Wednesday that any possible future war with the United States could spread across the region and target energy and communications infrastructure.
Against that backdrop, the outlet says Gulf states are seeking additional defensive partners, including Kuwait.
On Thursday, Kuwait signed a military cooperation agreement with Pakistan, with terms that Pakistan will provide training and help boost Kuwait’s defensive capacity, SCMP Economy reported.
