US-Israel-Iran war enters six-month mark as US shifts to sanctions
The administration said it will prioritize increased economic pressure and threats of punishment for anyone that does business with Tehran.
President Donald Trump faces an awkward moment in his presidency as the US-Israel war against Iran reaches six months, despite earlier assurances that the conflict would be brief. The war is ongoing, even as Trump argues the US has already dealt major damage to Iran’s leadership, military, and economy, Associated Press reported.
This week, Trump’s administration said it would turn its focus toward increasing economic pressure rather than additional military action to push the conflict toward an end. The strategy centers on threats to punish any country or entity that continues to conduct business with Tehran.
The shift comes as the administration weighs diminished munitions stockpiles after months of fighting, raising concerns that the prolonged war could undercut US military readiness elsewhere. Trump also indicated he is not rushing to negotiate, telling reporters Thursday that the administration is not looking to meet with Iran’s leadership.
