Uzbekistan seeks to join US-led AI supply chain initiative Pax Silica

Uzbekistan sent a diplomatic note to the US State Department last week asking to join Pax Silica, about a month after it signed up for China’s Waico grouping.

Uzbekistan has approached the United States to join Pax Silica, Washington’s initiative aimed at AI supply chains, according to SCMP Economy.

The country’s ambassador to the US, Furqat Sidikov, said Tashkent formally notified the US State Department in a diplomatic note last week requesting to participate, and called on the US to confirm the move.

Sidikov said Uzbekistan is ready to sign and argued against setting “red lines” on participation, saying international cooperation should be open to countries.

The bid comes roughly a month after Uzbekistan signed up for China’s World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, also known as Waico.
