Prediction markets price the Trump-Xi summit for Sept. 24
Polymarket had odds around 95.0 percent for Xi visiting in September, while Kalshi put the chance of a visit before October at 88.0 percent as of Aug. 27.
US President Donald Trump has announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the White House on September 24 following Trump’s three-day trip to Beijing in May, according to reporting by SCMP Economy. Beijing, however, has not formally announced Xi’s Washington visit, creating a diplomatic timing gap.
As prediction market activity has accelerated, traders have begun pricing the likelihood of a September meeting and a broader visit window. SCMP Economy reported that as of August 27, Polymarket contracts on whether Trump would meet Xi in September and whether Xi would visit the US by September 30 were both priced at about 95.0 percent.
SCMP Economy also cited Polymarket’s estimate that Xi would visit the US by the end of September at 94.0 percent. At Kalshi, the chance of a visit before October was placed at 88.0 percent, per the same report.
