U.S. jobs report and Russia digital ruble rollout set crypto week tone

The week’s calendar also includes token unlocks from projects including Ethena and scheduled crypto conferences across Seoul, London, Amsterdam, and Taipei.

CoinDesk highlighted the events expected to shape crypto sentiment as the market turns toward September, with U.S. labor data positioned as a key driver for digital asset expectations. The main catalyst is Friday’s jobs report. CoinDesk noted that nonfarm payrolls fell by 23,000 in July, while May and June were revised down by a combined 103,000, which raises the stakes for the August reading. It added that ADP private payrolls and JOLTS job openings will provide an early look at employment. CoinDesk said the direction of the labor data could influence broader financial conditions, because a weaker jobs report could temper expectations for an interest-rate rise and weigh on U.S. Treasury yields and the dollar, while a rebound could do the opposite. On the crypto-specific calendar, Russia begins the first large-scale phase of its digital ruble rollout, as the Bank of Russia consultation on ruble stablecoins closes, and the U.K. inquiry into banking restrictions affecting crypto companies ends a day earlier. CoinDesk also listed token unlocks scheduled for Sept. 5 for Ethena and earlier activity tied to other tokens, plus conference dates from Aug. 31 through Sept. 6 in Seoul, London, Amsterdam, and Taipei.
