Bitcoin was trading near $78,000 Monday as crypto-related treasury activity continued, with Strive buying 1,800 bitcoin for $143 million. CoinDesk reported the company paid an average price of $79,431 per BTC, compared with Monday’s prior reference around $77,800, citing figures from Strive’s transaction details.
CoinDesk also said Strategy (MSTR) made its first bitcoin purchases since late June, adding 4,603 coins for $369.7 million last week at an average of $80,318. The acquisition was funded through a common stock sale of $602.8 million, with the rest of the proceeds directed to $151.8 million in buybacks of Strategy’s STRC preferred stock and to build cash reserves.
CoinDesk added that Strategy, led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, now holds 845,050 bitcoin purchased for $63.73 billion, or an average $75,412 each. The outlet reported MSTR was up 1.65% pre-market as bitcoin traded around $78,400.
Beyond bitcoin, CoinDesk linked early gains in oil to renewed U.S.-Iran fighting, which raised concerns about tanker flows through the Strait of Hormuz. It said Brent crude was up 5.9% to $91.18 per barrel and WTI was up 3.7% to $86.47.
