US orders universities to audit China research ties
The audit directive involves 30 US institutions, including Harvard, MIT, and Johns Hopkins.
The South China Morning Post reports that US officials have ordered 30 American institutions, including Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Johns Hopkins University, to audit their foreign research relationships with China.
The outlet says higher education representatives raised concerns, accusing the Pentagon of implying wrongdoing without publicly presenting evidence, while the universities await what the reviews will cover.
