US stocks edge lower as US-Iran clashes push crude higher

The Dow fell 0.18%, the S&P 500 declined 0.18%, and the Nasdaq slipped 0.17% at the open amid rising inflation worries tied to higher oil prices.

US equities slid at the open on Monday after military strikes between the US and Iran lifted crude oil prices, according to LiveMint Markets, stoking broader inflation concerns.

At the start of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 97.4 points, or 0.18%, to 53,462.6, while the S&P 500 dropped 14.2 points, or 0.18%, to 7,697.52.

The Nasdaq Composite also declined, slipping 43.9 points, or 0.17%, to 26,358.559.

LiveMint Markets said the oil-driven move added to concerns about price pressures as markets opened.
