Adam Riese expands homeowners building insurance with new Riesig Plus tier

The update expands “Riesig” to cover outbuildings up to 50 m² and includes drainage pipe damage up to €15,000, with a new premium-waiver option for job loss capped at 12 months.

Adam Riese, the digital homeowners brand of Germany’s Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group (W&W), has reworked its residential building insurance plans for policyholders sold through brokers, effective immediately.

The insurer expanded its existing “Besser” and “Riesig” tariffs and added a new top tier, “Riesig Plus.” The revised “Riesig” tariff now covers outbuildings up to 50 m², drainage pipe damage up to €15,000, and unlimited water damage from leaking joints, and it includes a premium-waiver option for policyholders who become unemployed, capped at twelve months.

Riesig Plus further layers on coverage for photovoltaic system batteries, storm damage below wind force 8, and a best-performance guarantee. Coverage for PV systems is conditional on the policyholder including fire coverage.

Württembergische Versicherung AG is the risk carrier, and Adam Riese said the revamp targets digitally savvy customers with a prevention-focused approach amid extreme weather and building technology risks. The company expects to nearly double its customer base from about 500,000 policyholders to nearly 1 million, with existing customers able to switch to the new tariffs through a broker and cancel their old policy.
