China pledges to address US firms’ concerns ahead of Xi visit

Premier Li Qiang met the US-China Business Council in Beijing and urged Washington to take concrete steps on issues raised after recent bilateral trade talks.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang said China will address the “reasonable concerns” of US companies and ensure a fair and competitive market as Beijing prepares for President Xi Jinping’s planned visit to the United States later this month.

According to SCMP Economy, Li made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the US-China Business Council at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Tuesday, which was led by Ryan McInerney, chair of the business council and CEO of Visa.

Li urged Washington to take concrete steps to address concerns raised by Beijing and to implement outcomes from recent bilateral trade talks. He also said frictions between the two countries are normal given the scale of bilateral trade and that solutions can be found through mutual respect and consultation.

The US-China Business Council represents more than 270 US companies operating in China, including Visa, Medtronic, 3M, and Pfizer, SCMP Economy reported.
