Federal judge blocks HUD’s FY 2025 fair housing funding overhaul

The Massachusetts ruling set aside HUD’s fiscal 2025 funding notices and ordered the agency to distribute funds using the prior year’s structure.

Mortgage News Daily reports that a federal judge in Massachusetts blocked a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funding overhaul that advocates said could reduce services or close more than 100 community-based fair housing organizations.

The decision granted relief sought by the National Fair Housing Alliance and the Massachusetts Fair Housing Center, with the court setting aside HUD’s fiscal year 2025 funding notices and directing HUD to distribute money under the framework used in the previous year.

The outlet also discusses related topics from its mortgage and housing programming, including training and continuing education for lenders, as well as mortgage market tech and lending process automation mentioned in its podcast and sponsor materials.
