Mortgage rates hit highest level since June 2025 amid oil-price jump

The reversal comes as expectations for lower rates this year were undercut by renewed attacks in the Middle East that lifted oil prices, according to CNBC.

Mortgage rates climbed to the highest level since June 2025 as investors priced in higher interest-rate risks tied to a rise in oil prices, CNBC World reports.

CNBC Real Estate adds that market expectations for rates to fall this year were disrupted by developments linked to the war with Iran, which helped push energy prices higher.
