Ripple and Coincheck expand custody services for Asian institutions

Ripple’s partnership with SettleMint aims to integrate custody, issuance, and tokenized asset management across the asset lifecycle, while Coincheck’s deal targets wallet and custody services in Japan.

Ripple has partnered with SettleMint to offer financial institutions custody, issuance, and management solutions for tokenized assets across their full lifecycle, according to Cointelegraph.

The firms plan to integrate Ripple’s institutional digital asset custody platform, Ripple Custody, with SettleMint’s Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform, which is designed to make it easier for institutions to secure digital assets.

Cointelegraph also reports that a day earlier, Coincheck Group partnered with wallet infrastructure provider DFNS to build digital asset wallet technology and custody services in Japan. DFNS’s wallet-as-a-service provides transaction lifecycle management features, including workflow orchestration and governance controls, through a single platform supporting more than 100 blockchain networks.

Cointelegraph links the deals to an infrastructure gap limiting regulated institutions’ entry into crypto services. It also cites Chainalysis’ 2025 global adoption index, saying Asia-Pacific saw a 69% year-over-year increase in value received for onchain activity, alongside ongoing regional regulatory efforts including Japan’s July move to classify crypto assets as financial assets under its Financial Instruments and Exchange Act.
