Trump praises China for staying on sidelines during Strait of Hormuz closure

Trump said Xi Jinping is expected to visit Washington in a couple of weeks and that the two countries have had a “very good relationship.”

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that China has remained relatively inactive during the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump also said he believes Xi respects the United States, contrasting it with what he characterized as a lack of respect “two years ago.”
