US plans Kim Jong-un meeting, as visa revocations and ballot rules shift

SCMP says the US also revoked visas and that new mailed ballot restrictions took effect in August, pressuring election officials ahead of November voting.

SCMP reports that US President Donald Trump said he plans to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un later this year, even as Pyongyang denied direct communication between the two leaders.

The outlet also highlights that China has called for public reporting of suspected procurement corruption in the People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force, as an anti-corruption campaign continues within the strategic missile branch.

Separately, SCMP notes that new US restrictions on mailed ballots took effect in August, leaving state and local election officials scrambling to comply or seek a federal judge’s intervention ahead of November’s midterm elections.
